How to Show Up Effectively

Showing up just isn’t good enough.

Popping in to send a DM every five days and hoping that someone wants to work with you just because they saw a post or like your personality just isn’t going to cut it when you’re growing a business. If you want to build a business you need to show up, the right way.

Here’s how.

Engage with your audience every single day. If they are there for you, you need to be there too. Whenever you get a comment, comment back. When you see a DM come through, plan to respond within 24-48 hours. The truth is, we all feel like there’s not enough time in a day but if you can block out 30 minutes daily to focus on your social media community, you’ll see a spike in engagement.

Keep track of who you’re talking to. The best thing you could do for yourself when it comes to community growth is to use a spreadsheet. First put together the 50-100 people in your space that you know you need to be nurturing on a weekly basis. Then, spend time connecting with 10 new potential clients daily. Don’t just like a photo… do this:

  1. Follow them.

  2. Like a minimum of three photos.

  3. Comment on one post (something genuine).

  4. Send a DM.

We live in a world where everyone craves connection, everyone is on “social” media, yet there is a major disconnect with the people behind the screen. The more that you actually care about who you’re connecting with, the better the result is going to be.
